In a brand new sneak peek for the upcoming episode of Smash called "The Workshop," Ivy's mother--played by Bernadette Peters--has come to town. In a heartbreaking scene featured in this clip, Ivy's past with her spotlight-killing mother is exposed. No wonder Ivy is the way she is. She never had that support system she needed. The entertainment world can be a lonely place if you don't have people there that love you.
Her mother is compared to that of Marilyn's. It's clear that she doesn't truly love her daughter...or does she? Of course, Derek is there to witness the entire thing.
"She was an unhappy, drug-addicted disaster because her mother didn't love her. That's what Marilyn was," Ivy says.
