Slow Cooker Disasters, a DOA TV and a New Fish

I'm experiencing the holiday blues again (actually more of it's-so-cold-and-so-dark-out blues) and the only thing that's giving me hope is that sometime in the future it will be over and I will feel better.
1. I didn't think that I could actually mess up a slow cooker recipe for my new Crockpot -- but last night, I just did! I tried cooking some short ribs, potatoes, carrots, onions in a little broth for 6 hours. After having a bowl, I decided that it was truly disgusting. I don't know why. Most likely because I used thinly sliced boneless short ribs or one of the vegetables was not well. It could also be that because of my impaired tastebuds (yup, still not back), things are just not right in flavor land. Of course, this latest cooking disaster has only inspired me to make it work the next time, so I went to the supermarket and bought a small beef eye round roast plus a chicken to try out some soup. Oh, and I got slow cooker plastic liners!
2. The HDTV I bought on a discount last black Friday arrived, worked for one hour then stopped working. I am getting a replacement, but the paperwork is hell. Because I am an impatient person, I wonder if the $200 discount was truly worth it... Ok fine, I guess it was. But it sucks that I have to go through this. Retailers in America hate consumers -- I know this now more than ever.
3. And finally, I adopted bought a new fish and I have something to take care of again. I was thinking of naming him Shawn, after the cute guy who helped me out in Petland, or another film-related name like my other fish, but then I decided on the name that was perfect for this moment: Malta Corona. Hahaha. It's been my favorite drink for a month now. I think I've been craving for sugar lately and being sweet-impaired at the moment, this sugar-laden drink just "tastes right" to me. So say hello to Malta Corona, my new roommate.
