Shelley Smith - Single Ladies - The X Factor UK - Full Video

Shelley Smith sang “Single Ladies” on The X Factor UK 2013 Live Show 2.

Okay, I can appreciate what they were going for here. But I really don't get the obsession with having a contestant start out with a perfectly unique, slow-tempo arrangement of a dance song, only to kick the tempo back up on the second verse and generally making it a complete copycat performance. But hey, at least the performance brought Shelley's sass back out, and it was overall pretty fun to watch. I also have no problem admitting that the vocals on the second half weren't all that bad, although she seemed to lose her breath towards the end. Shelley is a good singer and an entertaining contestant, so I didn't hate this, honestly. But I really don't see Shelley sticking around if this is the best Sharon has for her. (And the stylists need to start finding her better outfits to wear. Shelley is a perfectly lovely woman, but she looked for all the world like Paula Deen here)
