Serenity

As I predicted, I was not able to watch all the films on my summer watch list, and surprise, surprise, the fall movies are here already. I guess I'll just have to add more films to my Netflix queue.

Somehow however, I managed to schlep my lazy ass off my computer and watch Serenity last night. I'm currently a fan of Joss Whedon's writing on Marvel's Astonishing X-Men (he brought Colossus back to life and brought back Kitty Pride as a major player in the X-Men's lives), so I was curious as to what this sci-fi flick was all about.

I liked it, but there was one problem I had watching it: the sound quality had an undeniable B-movie feel particularly with the dialogue. I found it very distracting. Considering however that it had a meager budget of $39 mil, the film looked great. The sound was just terrible. The script was very funny, even if there was one moment where I felt it wasn't going anywhere due to lack of character motivation and purpose. There were a lot of geeky lines that nerds from all over the world will appreciate... "I am a leaf in the wind, watch me soar!" Hahaha.

If you are a fan of sci-fi, Serenity is worth looking into.
