Serena Williams calls umpire a hater and loser at U S Open Video

Another U.S. Open - another Serena Williams controversy - another game lost on a technicality!

Apparently, there is an intentional hindrance rule in tennis and it happened at 30-40 in the first game of the second set while Serena was serving. Serena shouted at the ball and/or Samantha Stosur, before Stosur could hit the ball -- and the umpire called a hindrance on Serana giving Stosur the break point (and the game). Serena was upset, not being aware of this rule, and had a word with the umpire during the changeover.

She called the umpire a 'hater' and a 'loser' and also noted that the umpire was the same woman who penalized Serena in 2009 when Serena verbally abused a line judge.

According to the U.S. Open referee, this was a good call by the chair umpire.

Serena lost to Stosur in straight sets. A disappointing finish for Serena who had made an amazing comeback in tennis after injury.
