It’s been a long journey since last year when I auditioned for American Idol, and you’ve been with me every step of the way. That’s why I wanted you to be the first to know the details of my debut album. After all of the hard work over the last year, I am excited to tell you that my album, Clear As Day, will be released on Oct. 4 on Mercury Nashville/19 Recordings/Interscope.

We’ve been working hard on this album not only in Nashville, but in studios across the country because I’ve been on the Idol tour. We’re putting what I believe are the best songs we could find on it and I really hope everyone likes it. The whole experience has been amazing! I love working with my album producer, Mark Bright, and have gotten to work with some of the best musicians in Nashville! (I love being able to say ‘my album’!) We’ve also got songs on it from some of the best songwriters in country music. I’m so fortunate to have so many talented people contributing to my first album.

Clear As Day is definitely country and it’s definitely me. It has some old country influences and elements, but it also has a contemporary feel with fun up-tempo songs. It’s a good mixture. You can hear some of the influences that I grew up with, like Hank Williams, Conway Twitty and Merle Haggard, but it still has a contemporary twist and feel that keeps it up to date.

We tried to pick songs that related to me, but also songs that others would feel and relate to. That is the main goal: to make an album that you like. We focused on making the best music possible. I can’t wait for you to hear it and let me know what you think. I’m really proud of it and so grateful to have the opportunity to record an album before my 18th birthday. Of course, none of the success of the last year would have been possible without you, so let me end by sayingthanks for everything.
