Scott Thorson, Liberace's former lover portrayed by Matt Damon in HBO's Behind the Candelabra, has been sentenced to somewhere between 8 and 20 years in prison.

The 54-year-old (whose real name is Jess Marlow) was on probation for burglary and identify theft when he failed yet another drug test. He was sentenced on Wednesday (Jan. 22).

Some back story: Thorson tested positive for methamphetamine in September and was given a second chance by a judge, only to fail drug tests again in October and November.

He was arrested two weeks after his November drug test for not entering his court-ordered treatment center.

Come on dude, this is so simple even Lindsay Lohan could do it.

The author of Behind the Candelabra claimed at the time that he was only failing his drug tests because of his new-found celebrity status brought on by the success of the HBO movie.

"I can't help who I am," he pleaded with the judge. "I'm in show business. I attract these cameras."

To which the judge responded, "I'm not impressed – I don't think anybody is – with this so-called celebrity status. You're just like any other addict who has committed a crime against a victim."
