Sarah Polley Adapting John Green's 'Looking For Alaska'
If you liked The Fault In Our Stars, both the film and the book by John Green, then get geared up for more tear-jerkery.
Sarah Polley (Away From Her, Stories We Tell) has signed on to write and direct an adaptation of Green’s award-winning 2005 debut novel, Looking for Alaska. The book centers on boarding school new kid Miles Halter, and the enigmatic Alaska, a girl who captures his attention.
Green confirmed the announcement on his official Twitter, while also taking the opportunity to gush about Polley herself (and who can blame him? The lady is talented):
So excited to announce that the brilliant filmmaker Sarah Polley will be writing and directing a film adaptation of Looking for Alaska.

I'm a HUGE fan of Sarah's movies, and her ideas about Looking for Alaska are really wonderful, and I am SO VERY EXCITED.

Looking For Alaska has been a long time coming. An adaptation had been commissioned by Paramount in 2005, but never got out of development hell. But, with the success of The Fault In Our Stars, Looking For Alaska is back on the table, as is an adaptation of another Green novel titled Paper Towns, which will star The Fault In Our Stars co-star Nat Wolff. Basically, it looks like everything's coming up Green. And not a moment too soon.
