Torch report from cbrox, Kapua and Jeffrey W. at dazeoffire:

Torch Report for San Jose, CA concert July 25, 2007 by Kapua

I brought my orange outfit to work and changed before I left. Drove up to Milpitas to pick up my good friend and concert buddy, Lola. We've seen a few concerts at the Pavilion. She is the assistant manager at Noah's Bagels, so she brought dinner for me. We parked downtown and stopped at the Starbucks on Santa Clara street for coffee and to hopefully meet cbrox. We got coffee and I ate my bagel and lox sandwich. At about 5:45, we headed toward the Pavilion although we hadn't met cbrox - yet. I wanted to pick up those backstage passes ASAP!

Few people arrived as early as we, so picking up the passes was actually a snap. (I am hugely grateful to those responsible for arranging the passes.) We went in and chatted up one of the TV Guide people and then I spotted these two guys wearing neon bright orange shirts - It was Jeff W. and Josh, who greeted us and asserted "REAL men like Sanjaya!" They gave us orange glow bracelets from Mamajaya for the show. Wearing bright orange is a great way to meet up with other Fanjayas! I spotted a lady with two little girls all in orange and I directed them to where Jeff and Josh were so that they could get orange bracelets too.

We had GREAT seats in the first row of the lower risers. Jeff and Josh had the BEST seats in the front row - we could easily see them from where we were sitting.

The show started around 7:30 with "Let's Get it Started". I took out a pen and was planning to write during the show, but that didn't happen because I got caught up in the performance. So I'm just going to give my impressions of the performances, and what blew my socks off performance-wise. In the first part of the show, I really loved Lakisha and Melinda's Dreamgirls medley with "Stop in the Name of Love" and Chris R. joined in on "I Heard it Through the Grapevine". But I was there to see Sanjaya and the rest was just gravy!!!

I'm delighted to report that there was NO problem with the sound on any of Sanjaya's numbers last night! His voice was magnificent throughout, soulful and powerful!!! He's showing them what he can do out there and he's doing us Fanjayas proud!!! The natural, joyful Sanjaya that we saw on "Sweet Chariot" manifested last night. And that number he did with Melinda... OMG... SANJAYA CAN DANCE!!! He is a NATURAL dancer, smooth, rhythmic, and athletic. Sanjaya's learning how to work the crowd and he moves across the stage like a pro now. He's also mastered singing and running, LOL! Sanjaya is becoming a total entertainer, and he is a fast study. It surprised me that he was so strong vocally last night given that they've had quite a few dates in a row. His performance of "The Way You Make Me Feel" again showcased his dancing as well as his superb R&B voice.

To be continued... Gotta get coffee...
