Torch report from amk1022 at dazeoffire:

Update: ngurl2000 also has a report:

Hey Everyone!

We just got back from the concert! It's been a long, but wonderful
day! We left our house at 10:30 am and got to the venue around
11:30. We wanted to see when the busses arrived, and if we could
meet him before the show. The guards told us that he arrived
separately with Shyamali. We met some idols coming back from
getting lunch. We stayed hoping to see him, but we were told the
press interviews had started. We were told they would not being
coming out so we left. So we didn't meet him before the show, but
we did eventually meet him later at the after party!!! He was the
sweetest, adorable, sincere, (and huggable!) person we've ever met!
He gave us autographs and we got pictures with him! We mentioned
we were the torch reporters for Daze of Fire and he was really
happy to see us. He also mentioned that he noticed us in the
audience. So we were really happy that he remembered us!

We were lucky enough to get front and center. When he came out,
we would wave, and he would wave back or smile at us. Even with
the group numbers, of course, we were only watching him! When he
came out for "Let's Get it Started," he received lots of cheers! For
his duet with Melinda, he also received loads of cheers! Lots of girls
on the side came running down to touch his hand. For "The Way
You Make Me Feel," the crowd seemed just as loud, (even louder!),
and stood up. On "Hey Jude" and "Crazy" his voice was really
strong. He rocked out his solos! He was looking behind him quite a
few times to see the back up singers, and smiled with them. On the
Chriljaya skit, the audience in front of them were cheering so loudly,
so they adlibbed some lines to include the audience. They got into
the trying out for AI this year with an audience member, so it kind of
threw them off. They were laughing and talking to the fan as they
were doing the skit. On "Life is a Highway"
NO MIC PROBLEMS!!! We actually did not notice
any mic problems with any of his songs, (Yay!) but we did notice a few
mic problems on others. With the finale songs, he was interacting
well with the audience and touching their hands for those seated on the sides.

The crowd was almost sold out, with just the nosebleeds remaining.
We noticed some Sanjaya shirts. When people saw ours they would
smile and comment in a postive way. One of us was wearing orange
with the Daze of Fire nametag. The other one wore a homemade
"I'm A Fanjaya" shirt. The other two people with us wore Sanjaya
pins and nametags. Nobody commented negatively. It brought out
other Sanjaya fans to talk to us about him that were wearing just
normal clothes. We asked them why they liked him, and they said
his personality, his performances, his smile, his sincereness, and he
seems easy to talk to. We asked others who their faves were and
their feelings on Sanjaya during intermission. They said after seeing
him live, they noticed his voice was a lot stronger and they really
enjoyed him! We noticed Shyamali walking in the audience, five
minutes after intermission started. She was so nice and sweet! We
talked to her for a quick time, but then she had to leave.

Thanks again for letting us be the Salt Lake City torch reporters!
This truly was the greatest experience and we will never ever forget
it!

Here are some pictures! Since it is almost 3 am.... we'll post more ASAP! :o)

Report of ngurl2000:

My report on the night:

My friend Eber and I made shirts before the show. Mine said "Chris + Blake = Cake" and it had a picture of a cake drawn on it. Eber's said "Jordin Sparks up my life!" with Jordin's name actually mispelled as "Jordan." Whoops.

We showed up 5 minutes late to the show after trying to find parking, but we didn't miss anything. I overheard a lady telling the guy in front of us that the show was delayed because a man had fallen off the scaffold on the stage. Apparently he had been hanging from the scaffold for awhile before he fell. Also, some girl had fallen down the stairs and had a "really bad injury", so they had firetrucks parked outside. I don't know why that would hold up the show, but it didn't start until 7:40. As we were sitting there, these older couples around us started discussing who they liked on the show. At one point the conversation went like this:

Guy #1 -- That sister of Sanjaya was real cute, but she didn't make it that far.

Lady #2 -- Yeah, she had to go and pose for Playboy after that.

Guy #2 -- She did that?

Lady #1 -- Naw, that wasn't her. It was some other girl.

Guy #2 -- Yeah, and she did it for free. It wasn't no Playboy. Her boyfriend had some pictures of her and decided to spread 'em around.

Lady #2 -- Hmm.

That's how rumors get started! A bunch of ignorant ol' hicks get together and discuss things "intelligently." The couple in front of us got to talking about Sanjaya and it was obvious that they hated him. Everytime I was recording Sanjaya, they kept leaning in and saying things to each other -- BLOCKING MY VIEW!! It was upsetting.

I noticed Shyamali during the intermission, but she was surrounded by people who were talking to her. We really wanted to get a picture with her, but I suddenly got really nervous. So I missed out.

The feeling I got throughout the show was that everyone either hated Sanjaya or loved him...there was no inbetween. After Sanjaya did his competition to see which part of the audience was the loudest, he said that it was just for fun and he didn't have any prizes to give out. The guy next to me yelled, "You have no voice either!" He also yelled, "Thank God it's over!" and clapped when Sanjaya finished "The Way You Make Me Feel". You can actually hear it in the video I recorded. So sad!

The most cheers were definitely for Blake. It was a madhouse and I couldn't even hear him sing most of the time! I was mostly surprised by the amount of cheers for Gina and Phil. Sanjaya had a lot of support and I was so proud of him. No mic problems and he sounded so good! I was really impressed at his voice and how good of a performer he was. He was so entertaining! At intermission, we moved up 15 rows to some empty seats so I could get away from the Sanjaya haters who were dampening my spirits!
