RuPaul's Drag Race - The Queen Who Mopped Xmas
RuPaul's Drag Race season 3 premiered last night! I'm so happy.
Right now I like Raja, Manila Luzon, Yara Sofia and the plus-sized queens (Mimi Imfurst, Stacy Lane Matthews and Delta Work).
Oh, and Shangela is back from Season 2, hahaha. Hallelu! Unfortunately, one year later, she's still not a good drag queen. I don't see her lasting so long -- unless the show uses her exactly for that purpose -- the "why is that b*tch still here" queen.
Other notable queens are: Mariah (one of the "pros") and Carmen Carrera who likes to walk around naked.
The first challenge was a holiday card photoshoot on a trampoline. Raja won! It looks like everyone loves her. That's kinda interesting because Raja has the "quirky" queen look, much like Ongina from Season 1. I didn't think they would set Raja up as a front runner so early.
The second challenge was to create a thrift store Christmas look for the runway.
The big reveal in workroom? Manila Luzon's boyfriend is Sahara Davenport from Season 2. Oh. My. God.
And then, Mimi Imfurst has a breakdown while creating her bedsheet dress. Good for her, Mariah and India Ferrah help her out. Mimi was so needy! Omigosh -- and she was supposed to be the "confident" comedian.
The last drama was Venus D-lite vs. Phoenix -- Venus accused Phoenix of copying her style. Interesting enough, Phoenix also had the same style as India Ferrah when they all met up at the beginning of the show. Hmmm... this could be an interesting plot moving forward.
Judging:
Vanessa Williams was the guest judge and Bruce Vilanch was the guest Santa.
Raja won the challenge! Wow, I hope she doesn't crumble in the end. I like Raja.
The queens who lip-synced for their lives were: Venus D-lite and Shangela (again!)
RuPaul: Shangela, shantay you stay.
And Venus D-lite - the Madonna impersonator - sashayed away. I hated her. She had a lot of negative energy.
During the Untucked show -- where the queens drunk on alcohol cat fight in the interior illusions lounge -- we saw interesting bits. Yara Sofia admitted that she had plastic surgery. Alexis Mateo (the other Puerto Rican queen) runs her mouth a lot. And I think she's going to get in trouble for it in the future. Mariah and Stacy Lane just kept their cool when Alexis said some not so nice things about them. Phoenix also got into a tiff with Stacy and Venus D-lite.
Overall, I am happy this show is back. I think the cast is interesting, though I kinda miss that there's no obvious mother hen queen in the mold of Raven and Shannel from the previous seasons.
