Robin Thicke Named Sexist of the Year
Sorry Robin Thicke, you've been named Sexist of the Year. And if you read that as sexiest, that's really really wrong.
Thicke was given the title by the End Violence Against Women Coalition, who made their decision based on the super controversial and rape-y lyrics of Thicke's "Blurred Lines."
Not to mention the music video in which nude models were treated as mere objects.
And his comments about the music video in which he remarked, "People say, 'Hey, do you think this is degrading to women?' I'm like, 'Of course it is. What a pleasure it is to degrade a woman. I've never gotten to do that before."
Said member Sarah Greene of their decision to choose Thicke:Our heartfelt congratulations to a worthy winner, Robin Thicke, for both his concerted sexist efforts, and in the end the platform he created for rejection of the use of women as objects to promote mediocre pop.As a prize, Thicke will be given a voucher to download Aretha Franklin's hit song "Respect."
