Robin Roberts inks new seven-figure, long-term deal with ABC

Good news for ABC! Fan favorite newscaster Robin Roberts has signed a hefty deal to remain with the network family.

Sources tell The New York Post's Page Six that the deal is worth $13-14 million per year, or even just under $10 million. An insider said "Over a month ago, they quietly inked a new, long-term, very high seven-figure deal with Robin that will keep [her] at the company for years to come. It was a friendly negotiation. Robin’s been [at ABC News] for over 20 years, and will be a leader there for a very long time to come.”

The source also says that Roberts "was extremely grateful for the kindness and love shown by everyone while she was sick.. She made it clear to her reps that she wanted them to drive a fair deal but didn’t want to create any kind of bidding war."

For the first time in 19 years, Good Morning America was ranked #1 this season ahead of NBC's Today. ABC is now negotiating with Roberts' co-anchors, Josh Elliot and Lara Spencer. "The question is: If Robin got that big a deal, can they open their pocketbooks for everybody? The show’s been a success as an ensemble, but now every part of that ensemble wants to get paid."  Her main co-anchor, George Stephanopolous is signed through 2014.

Roberts has been working for ABC via ESPN and ABC News since 1990.

So glad Robin is staying. I love her!
