Rickey's Headshots
Just got back from a photoshoot with Jimi Sweet. Our original appointment was at 3 PM, but he had to reschedule. Since I had already brought my wardrobe to my morning job, I decided that it was just better later in the day than on another day. The one problem was that I actually schlepped my wardrobe around the city, and I was sweating underneath my... well, sweater, although in the end I really didn't mind. Jimi was all business as usual, and surprisingly even treated me (along with another friend of his) to Japanese food.

One thing that struck me about my headshots (which were in RAW format by the way) was that I am a very good candidate for airbrushing. Or better yet, Photoshop's Healing Brush tool. Though I honestly consider myself cute, sometimes its just difficult for the camera to capture my cuteness. In most cases, I need a helping digital hand. These pictures however, were untouched with only minor "auto adjustments" in Photoshop.

Lesson for the day: Only one out of 35-50 shots will actually be good. I am hoping that in the future, if I try this again, I will be more comfortable in front of the camera, and not look petrified or confused. Actually, I so desperately wanted my nude pictures to come out well. Unfortunately, my birthday suit pics have received a failing grade from my own unrealistic standards, and they will not see the light of day here. For starters though, I now know that there is one practical reason to get rid of your "belly": better nudes. In one absurd moment while scanning through my naked self, I was actually looking for my "pee-pee", which was discretely covered somehow (thanks Jimi). I think I've been conditioned too much by porn, that I automatically look for the money shot. I was so disappointed in myself! Haha. So now, if I try this again, I will open up to the idea of full frontal, so at the very least, I will not leave myself hanging.

One other disappointment was that some of the clothes I wore were wrinkled, and it just didn't look right. So in the future, I will be more careful coming to the photoshoot. I brought my green t-shirt so that I could have a new picture for the blog, but it just didn't work out. Jimi said, the next time, I should bring some objects so it will be interesting. Or have some concepts ready. Will do.

Thanks Jimi, it was wonderful. I have now fulfilled two of my three goals: send a framed picture to my mother and upload a decent picture in Yahoo! Personals and Downelink. Unfortunately, that raunchy sex ad on Craigslist will have to wait.
