Rhys Ifans is joining the cast of CBS' Sherlock Holmes reimagining as the detective's famed brother, Mycroft Holmes.

Ifans will make his debut in the Season 2 premiere of Elementary, airing Sept. 26. The episode was reportedly filmed on location in London.

According to a CBS press release, the episode centers on Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) as he's called to London to revisit an old case. Once there, he comes face-to-face with his older brother, Mycroft. The estranged siblings are then forced to work through their troubled relationship while Sherlock and Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) stay at Mycroft's home at 221B Baker Street.

"I could not be more excited to have Rhys coming aboard," said series creator Robert Doherty. "I've always been a tremendous fan and feel very honored to have him in the fold. Equally excited are Jonny and Lucy, both of whom have worked with Rhys in feature films. I think this is going to be a lot of fun for all of us."

Ifans, whose credits include The Amazing Spider-Man and Notting Hill, co-starred with Miller in the 2000 gangster film Love, Honour and Obey, and opposite Liu in the 2002 ensemble drama Hotel.
