Revolution - Season 2 Episode 2 - Recap - There Will Be Blood
We're digging into week two on the second season of NBC's Revolution, and it is a whole lot better than last week's premiere! The plot has a logical progression, the new characters are genuinely interesting, and the season's story seems to be taking shape.
Last week, in his new little town, Aaron woke up from the dead. His heart was stopped for a while. Like, hours. A while. Some time later, he's just fine, not even a wound or scar on him. He gets back to his routine, but finds himself having a waking nightmare about finding Ben (Hey, remember Ben? Ben Matheson? Miles's brother? ...No?) bleeding on the floor. His new ladyfriend finds him there, and he relates the story of what happened when the power went out (the second time). He tells the story via flashback, but we don't learn much new. Atlanta and Philly got nuked, despite Arron's best efforts. The power went back out. That's all so far.
Meanwhile, also in the same town, Rachel keeps begging her dad for help getting Miles out of bad guy jail. She eventually convinces him, and when they venture out into the night, the pair comes across a huge pile of dead rats for some reason.
For reasons beyond logic, Charlie is sneaking around in the dark trying to get season one's Big Bad, General Monroe (she found him last week, you'll hopefully remember). She gets captures because she's duuumb, and she awakens tied up in dried pool next to Monroe. Their captors claim to be American government representatives. Charlie calls them fools for wanting to take Monroe in alive. Once the captors leave, Monroe and Charlie posture at one another, but being tied up means no punches. Later that night, Monroe escapes while be moved to another place. Charlie tries to stop him, but he beats her up and all she can do is follow.
After his capture last week, Miles is in prison. Well... not prison so much as... a cage, next to another dude in a cage. Soon, his captors come and test both men's blood. Miles, naturally, gets to stay. The other dude gets shot in the face. Miles almost escapes, but the bad guys take a hostage that stays his egress. He's brought to meet the bad guy leader, a creepy priest who runs some kind of boy coven. Instead of being killed, Miles just gets his hand smashed up good with a hammer. The woman he saved earlier, the hostage, helps him to ease the pain, but she can't do much since they're both still in cages and don't have, uh, possessions of any kind. Miles is eventually taken beyond a secret red door, where it appears he will become a blood donor for a scary bed-ridden lady.
Totally elsewhere, Tom Neville is suspicious of the newly-arrived Americans. He's secretly planning to assassinate the leader of the American group that recently arrived! He enacts the plan, but when his co-conspirator is ready to fire the fatal shot, Tom shoots the assassin instead, ingratiating himself with the Americans. Tom's vying to become a part of the security force for the visiting Americans.
This episode was fairly exciting! Certainly it was better than what we got last week, which was a mess. The plots are starting to rev up, and the characters are being put through the wringer. I'm interested to see why Aaron revived! He seems to think the nanobots that caused the blackout did it, but I'm not so sure... It seems a bit obvious. I'm sure we'll get more clues next Wednesday night. In the meantime, check out the preview!
