Revolution - Season 2 Episode 11 - Recap - Mis Dos Padres

NBC brings us another dose of Revolution, and it's become clear that the show wants to be more about former villain Sebastian Monroe (David Lyons) and his stumbling journey towards redemption. It was, at one point, the post-electricity journey of Miles Matheson (Billy Burke) to reunite his wayward family and overthrow Monroe. Anyway, the two have now teamed up, and with Miles's journey complete, we're ready for more of Monroe and his conflict.

But first: Aaron's story picks up right where we left it last week, with him finding the long-absent Grace in an otherwise-abandoned town. Aaron isn't the only one newly in town now, though. Early in the day, Grace was, uh... graced with the presence of Aaron's ex-wife, Priscilla! She's been seeing the same firefly patterns and ghosts of dead people sending her weird messages, turns out. The nanites that have gained consciousness sought out Priscilla and Aaron because they are the two people who programmed the artificial intelligence. And... that's it! There's a lot being saved for next week, and for the rest of the season.

Monroe & Son is still an unlikely enterprise, as the young brat Conner has taken Daddy Sebastian captive. Conner's adoptive dad meets with Monroe to make jolly threats and figure out what to do with Bas, our intensely plot-armored antihero. Conner proposes selling dear old dad, which is probably a good bet. The presumed-dead leader of the tyrannical Monroe Republic would surely fetch a good price on the black market. Rachel and Miles still want to rescue him, so they're improvising a break-in at another spot on the compound. You'd think it'd be harder, but Miles bonks Conner and opens the cell right away. The only hold-up is that Monroe won't leave Conner to face Other Dad's wrath, so Miles ends up right next to Monroe in the cell. Nice job, Bas! You jerk! Man, Sebastian Monroe just keeps messing stuff up all the time. Conner almost seems convinced later when he's talking to Fake Dad, but he still doesn't hold back even slightly when he's whipping his prisoners. Conner puts on a good show, but when he comes across Rachel sneaking around the house, he gives her the jail key and has her repay the favor, neither of them aware of an eavesdropper nearby. The trio of escapees gets upstairs before they're confronted by a captured Conner and his gang boss False Father. Conner breaks loose from his henchman captor and the good guys win the big fight that ensues, escaping easily and bringing Conner along with them.

Charlie and Grandpa are still trying to figure out what the Patriots are up to, but even if they knew, they're so drastically outnumbered as to be helpless. That doesn't stop them from sneaking into the camp and getting almost immediately caught. The Patriots, however, take the pair to an infirmary full of sick/dying civilians. They've got to get to work immediately. Well, it looks like that's what the deal was with the oranges from last episode! Yikes.

Tom Neville (Giancarlo Esposito) continues his plotting in DC, but now his son Jason has clued Tom in to the Secretary of State's plans. Turns out that Doyle, the very man that has married Tom's wife, is also planning to greatly expand the re-education program that messed Jason up a bunch. Tom wants to get close to Doyle to eliminate him, or at least mess up his plans, and is ready to break into the office to do so. After an office break-in, Tom gets confronted by his wife, but Tom's innocent. Jason dug into the office, actually! He's being proactive, but in a foolishly overt way. So foolishly overt that the Patriots come to take Jason in for questioning! Ah, geez. That won't end well. I was kinda hoping the Nevilles would all become President or something.

This episode was better than the past few, with actual things happening in it! There's new dynamics and new statuses quo and new characters. I'm hoping the Aaron plot starts to move a little faster, but the other stuff is all ramping up nicely, so it's a small complaint! Check out the preview for this episode below.
