Reports that ‘Idols Live’ ticket sales slow

Rickey hates me anytime I jump into these claims but I feel quite justified for the lack of overall talent present in this years show. I was so underwhelmed each week, and it was the first season, since the 2nd incarnation, that I just really did not care. It used to be unmissable for me. That being said, I do purely blame the talent, and just about nothing else. Though, I did miss Paula. Maybe Season 10 can be a redemption season? I hope so, because I miss what Idol used to be.

Popeater is hearing tickets are so slow in some cities for “Idols Live” that they are considering moving to smaller venues. I’m not surprised one iota. This year’s crew was that dull. I wouldn’t be surprised if this will be the worst-attended “Idols Live” tour since season 3, which struggled to fill half the seats in many venues.

The Atlanta (well, Duluth to be exact) dates almost always sell out and do better than most venues. Right now, with six weeks to go before the “Idols Live” tour hits the Gwinnett Arena, really good seats still remain. The best I could get right now are very close to the stage for the August 1 concert. That’s not a good sign. (For those in the know, Section 107, row E).

A blogger below questioned the validity of the “slow sales” assertion. During better years, only third-level seats (if any) were typically available at this point, a month after sales went on sale. I checked availability at other venues. At Jones Beach on Long Island (where I used to go as a teen), good seats are available halfway back. Mid-level floor seats can be found in Albany. There are more than 3,000 seats still open (not counting lawn) in Charlotte., including two of the three front sections near the stage. Mid-level floor seats are available in Dallas. Floor seats (a bit further back) are also available on Ticketmaster in Los Angeles.

– Chart action from mediabase 24/7: On the country chart, Carrie Underwood’s “Undo It” moves up to No. 6 and is virtually guaranteed a No. 1 spot within the next month. Bucky Covington is up to No. 26 with “A Father’s Love.” Kellie Pickler is at No. 33 with “Makin’ Me Fall In Love Again.”

Not a single “Idol” is on the top 40 chart. Adam Lambert’s “Whadya Want From Me” is No. 2 on Hot AC with Daughtry’s “Life After You” is at No. 10. There appears to be minimal forward momentum for either Kris Allen or Adam Lambert’s latest singles. On the urban chart, Fantasia’s “Bittersweet” edges up to No. 25. It’s No. 8 on urban AC. We are the Fallen (with Carly Smithson) has already peaked at No. 28 with “Bury Me Alive” on the active rock chart and has fallen to No. 36. Bummer.
