Reese Witherspoon Blames Ex Ryan Phillippe For Her Terrible Movie Choices

No one will argue that Reese Witherspoon has been starring in some less than stellar movies as of late (hello Four Christmases!).

Witherspoon herself however would argue that it's all because of her divorce with Ryan Phillippe that's to blame.

Said Witherspoon of her fall from grace following her Oscar win for Walk the Line and the subsequent divorce, "You know, you can't really be very creative when you feel like your brain is scrambled eggs. I was just kind of floundering career-wise cause I wasn't making things I was passionate about, I was just kinda working."

"It was really clear the audiences weren't responding to anything I was putting out there."

She also recalls that she had a little bit of a wake up call after reading about herself in the New Yorker.

"I thought I was reading a profile on another actor," Witherspoon explained, "And somewhere at the end it said, you know, the people who are washed up, and at the end it included me, Tom Hanks, Mel Gibson. It really hurt my feelings, really hurt my feelings."
