Rebecca Ferguson to Star as Female Lead in 'Mission: Impossible 5'
No, not that Rebecca Ferguson.
Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson, the Golden Globe-nominated star of the now Emmy-nominated BBC/Starz miniseries The White Queen, has been cast as the female lead in Mission: Impossible 5.
No word on the nature of her role beyond that, but the 30-year-old actress joins a cast that already includes franchise newcomer Alec Baldwin (as the head of the CIA) and returning stars Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner. And, of course, Tom Cruise as super-sleuth Ethan Hunt.
Ferguson is insanely talented, and if you haven't seen The White Queen, go out of your way to see it. Seriously, it might not be straight history, but it's incredibly addictive television, and Ferguson is outstanding in it. It's to the point where I'm considering seeing the upcoming, Dwayne Johnson-starring, Brett Ratner-directed Hercules movie just because she's in it.
Mission: Impossible 5 will hit theaters in December 2015.
