Reality Check - The Problems With 'American Idol' Rush Week - Video
TVLine.com's Michael Slezak returns with American Idol Season 6 finalist Melinda Doolittle for an all-new Reality Check, dissecting the week in reality singing competitions!
This week, Michael and Melinda struggle to make sense of the process of "Rush Week" on American Idol XIII. Between a third of the field being cut without even singing, and the inclusion of a few not-ready-for-primetime acts in the Top 13, it was a rough experience both for the viewers and for the contestants. So what do Michael and Melinda think about Randy Jackson's advice, Harry's alleged "slut-shaming" of Emily Piriz, and the entire concept of "Rush Week" in general? Thoughts
My thoughts and rants on "Rush Week" are long and numerous, and you can read them here. In short, while I'm gradually getting past the controversy, it's hard not to be mad in some fashion with how this entire "Rush Week" business played out. Hopefully, the season to come erases any unpleasant thoughts about what might have been.
So what do you think about "Rush Week"? The wild cards and Top 13? Randy's mentoring, Harry's "slut-shaming" and Adam Lambert's contributions? Sound off in the comments!
