Reality Check - Who Are the 'Idol' Top 3 for Season 13? - Video
TVLine.com's Michael Slezak returns with American Idol Season 6 finalist Melinda Doolittle for an all-new Reality Check, dissecting the week in reality singing competitions!
Michael and Melinda discuss who they feel are the top 3 of American Idol XIII, as the latest week of performances saw some contestants stepping up, and former frontrunners falling way behind. Where do Michael and Melinda side on the "Pumped Up Kicks" debate? Has Majesty Rose been broken by her bottom 3 appearances? And which contestant is pretty much the only one who seems like they're actually trying to WIN this thing? It's a fun discussion that leads into a brief talk about the only contestant Michael and Melinda believe is worth discussing on The Voice Season 6: SISAUNDRA LEWIS. It's a terrific episode, as usual, and you can check out the full video below via TVLine:

THOUGHTS
It's kind of strange how quickly Majesty Rose has fallen out of my Top 3, personally. I was incredibly excited for her when the season started, but she's sort of fizzled out over the past several weeks. It's disheartening to see her confidence so shaken by the bottom 3 appearance, but that's something she'll need to overcome if she actually wants to have a shot at winning this competition. And I'd argue she still does have a shot at Top 3 if she plays her cards right.
But for me, my Top 3 is a bit on the conventional side: Alex Preston, Caleb Johnson, and Jena Irene.
I have constant doubts as to whether Jena Irene can go all the way, but she's one of the few contestants, other than Malaya Watson, who's actually showing real growth from week-to-week. It's impressive, the amount of variety she's displayed over the course of just four weeks. In many ways, she's building up a winner's resume of performances, to the point where she's creeping up on my No. 2 spot. If Caleb under-delivers this week while Jena remains consistent, she just might overtake him in my own personal rankings. Either way, I don't see a scenario where Alex Preston loses this season. Then again, I said the same thing about Adam Lambert and Crystal Bowersox, so it's kind of hard to know for sure, even four weeks into the competition.
So what do you think? Who are your American Idol Top 3? And is this season of The Voice really so underwhelming? Sound off in the comments!
