Ray Rice Suspended by NFL After Domestic Assault Video Surfaces

The National Football League is finally taking a stance against running back Ray Rice after a video of him from back in February was released in which he punches then fiance (now wife) Janay Palmer in the face, knocking her unconscious.

After which he drags her lifeless body out of the elevator where the altercation occurred.

Not only has he been let go from his team the Ravens, but he has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL. Finally.

It's horrifying it took video proof (released by TMZ) for Rice to be punished by the sports league in the first place.

Because apparently the shortened version they saw of Rice dragging around her lifeless body was not proof enough.

Said the NFL in a statement about the video, "Commissioner Roger Goodell has announced that based on the new video evidence that became available today, he has imposed an indefinite suspension on Ray Rice."

Rice was charged with felony assault for the attack back in March, but when his wife refused to testify, the charge was brought down to court-supervised counseling.

At the time, the NFL suspended him for a mere two games and tweeted in a since-deleted missive: "Janay Rice says she deeply regrets the role that she played the night of the incident."

Shame, shame NFL.
