Ratings: 'The X Factor' premiere down 38% from last season - 9/12/2013

The X Factor Season 3 premiered to a 2.1 rating and 6.17 million viewers. That's down 33% from last year's 3.4 rating. Ouch.

I think being a one-hour premiere hurt the show. Hopefully it will get better tonight.

Also, this is not enough bad news for FOX to cancel this show. I actually think we have at least one more season after this. When all is said and done, The X Factor will have a solid run this fall at this level, low as it is. (This is better than nothing for FOX at this time of year.)

MasterChef and Big Brother beat The X Factor last night and America's Got Talent had way more viewers than anyone else.

The X Factor Premiere Ratings

MasterChef was the #1 show of the night with a 2.4 rating and 6.2 million viewers.

Big Brother 15 had a 2.2 rating and 6.68 million viewers.

Million Dollar Quiz had a 1.2 rating and 5.24 million viewers.

America's Got Talent had a 2.1 rating and 9.79 million viewers, the most watched show of the night.

Camp had a 0.9 rating and 3.5 million viewers.
