Ratings: NFL soundly beats the competition on Thursday, Big Brother steady

The NFL kickoff game between the Saints and Packers wiped out the competition on Thursday. Among the non-sports shows, Big Brother was on top with a 2.5 rating.

This just got me excited for the premiere of The Voice next year after the Super Bowl. Will it top the American Idol premiere which will air after the NFC Championship Game? I can't wait to posts those headlines! Competition is good for us!

From TVbytheNumbers:

Big Brother took only a small hit vs. the NFL, dropping a tenth of a point vs. last week's already low ratings, to a 2.4 adults 18-49 rating. Earlier in the evening, the CBS Fall Preview special drew a 1.6 adults 18-49 rating, that was up 14% vs. last year's show which aired on Monday 9/6/10.
