Ratings: American Idol wins Wednesday, down 27% from last season
American Idol was the top program last night with a 6.1 adult rating and 19.3 million viewers, up 2% from last week, but down 29% from last season. Ratings have now stabilized from last week which is GREAT NEWS! Idol has kept it's audience from last week and even gained a few. The fainting girl gimmick worked! Who needs talent right?
The sad news for Idol fans: The Voice (6.7) beat American Idol this week in the ratings and NCIS (20+ million) beat Idol in total number of viewers.
We are going to have ratings battle next week between The Voice and American Idol! I love it!
Modern Family had a 5.5 rating with 12.85 million viewers.
From FOX_Research:
#AmericanIdol was the top program of the night in Adults 18-49 (6.0/17), Total Viewers (18.9 million) and Teens (3.9/14) // @dizzyfeet
From TVbytheNumbers:
American Idol was steady with a 6.0 adults 18-49 rating and if past history is a guide, will likely be adjusted up a tenth in the final national numbers. Steady is better than down and the 6.0 beat the combined English language broadcast competition at 8pm. But that was still down 28% versus the fourth Wednesday telecast last year which averaged an 8.4 rating with adults 18-49 and 24.1 million viewers, though it's important to note that was a two hour telecast and the second hour is always higher rated than the 8pm hours in those telecasts. Mobbed was up two tenths vs. last week to a 3.0 adults 18-49 rating.ABC''s The Middle was up a tenth versus its last original on January 18 to a 2.6 adults 18-49 rating. Suburgatory was steady with a 2.5 adults 18-49 rating and Modern Family was up four tenths to a 5.5 adults 18-49 rating. Happy Endings was up a tenth to a 3.0 adults 18-49 rating and Revenge's 2.5 adults 18-49 rating was even with 3 weeks ago.
