Ratings: American Idol up 3% from last week, down 21% from last season

Yes! American Idol ratings went up on Thursday. Can we call the season a success already or do we have to wait for the live shows to make a definitive verdict?

American Idol did not die without Simon Cowell and it looks stronger than ever even on a Thursday. Amazing.

Vampire Diaires was up 7% from last week! Yes!

From TVbytheNumbers:

Fox easily led the night as American Idol was up 3% vs. last Thursday to a 7.5 adults 18-49 rating. But ‘Idol’ was down 21% from the 9.5 adult 18-49 rating for the equivalent episode last year (which aired on a Wednesday at 9pm). Bones was also up 3% from last week to a 3.3 rating in adults 18-49, bettering the 2.9 rating for Justin Bieber’s stuntcastic February sweep return to CSI.
