Ratings: 'American Idol' has lowest rated season premiere ever - 1/16/2014

The premiere of American Idol XIII Season 13 had a 4.6 adult rating -- the show's lowest rated premiere ever, even lower than Season 1 which aired in the summer and with no buzz. The Season 1 premiere had a 4.8 rating.

Last night's premiere had 15 million viewers.

FOX can still be happy however that it was the #1 show of the night and the most watched on broadcast, but we'll have to wait later for the final numbers since Wednesday was also the premiere of Duck Dynasty on A&E and we expect those numbers to be huge.

Update: American Idol beat Duck Dynasty in the demo.

For comparison, The Voice debuted at 5.1 during last fall's premiere.
