Ratings: American Idol down 8% from last week, down 33% from last year

American Idol had a 6.0 rating last night and 18.4 million viewers. This is down 8% from last week (6.5 and 19.7 million viewers) and down 33% from year (9.0 and 25.4 million viewers).

This isn't so bad, although last year, the dip from week to week wasn't so sharp. Idol lost more than a million viewers from last week. Last season, the auditions were more or less steady from week to week.
