Quentin Tarantino Wants To Develop 'Django Unchained' Miniseries
Quentin Tarantino is looking to get into television. (Cable, of course. This is Quentin Tarantino we're talking about here)
The two-time Academy Award winner told an audience at the Cannes Film Festival on Friday that he’s considering developing a four-hour miniseries version of Django Unchained the 2012 Western set in the antebellum South that earned both Tarantino and actor Christoph Waltz their second Oscars (for Original Screenplay and Supporting Actor, respectively). The movie, starring Jamie Foxx and Scandal star Kerry Washington, earned five nominations overall including Best Picture.
"I have about 90 minutes’ worth of material with Django [that] hasn’t been seen," Tarantino said. "My idea, frankly, is to cut together a four-hour version of Django Unchained… But I wouldn’t show it like a four-hour movie. I would cut it up into hour chapters. Like a four-part miniseries. And show it on cable television. Show it like an hour at a time, each chapter.
"We’d use all the material I have and it wouldn’t be an endurance test,” he added. “It would be a miniseries. And people love those."
Well, can't really disagree with him there.
