'Pushing Daisies' Could Be Headed to Broadway

The much-loved, short-lived ABC series Pushing Daisies could be getting a second chance. Not as a TV show, but as a Broadway musical.

Bryan Fuller, the creator of the whimsical drama, has confirmed he's been in talks with Warner Bros. and director Barry Sonnenfeld about either adapting Pushing Daisies as a movie, or moving the series to Broadway. The show, centered on a pie maker gifted with the ability to bring people back to life with a touch, ran from 2007-2009 and was among the seminal TV roles for Tony Award-winning Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth.

“There’s a couple of format options,” Fuller told E! News. “Barry said to me, ‘I have some ideas on how we could pull this off!’ I would love to do a musical, and I also would love to do a movie [as opposed to a Netflix run], because you have higher impact and it also has an iconography.”

Few TV adaptations would fit on the Broadway stage quite as well as Pushing Daisies, which was a poignant, comedic drama packed with whimsy and heart. Its cancellation was one of the most disappointing network decisions of the past decade, I'd argue, so it's heartening to see the series receiving a possible second chance.

But what do you think? Would a Pushing Daisies Broadway musical be something you'd pay to see? Sound off in the comments!
