Promises, Promises - Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth - Tickets Discount Code

Another night watching a Broadway musical for me! I feel so blessed.
Last night, I watched the revival of Promises, Promises featuring Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth. As usual, just like last week's A Little Night Music - being blissfully unaware of what the show was about made it more interesting for me.
This show features some memorable songs including: "A House is Not A Home," "I Say A Little Prayer" and "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" (all sung by Kristin Chenoweth). Just like last week, the show took some time to pick up for me, but a quarter through the first half I was hooked - thanks to the brilliant comic timing of Sean Hayes and the extreme likability of Kristin Chenoweth on stage.
In the second half we got treated to great performances from two supporting characters: Marge MacDougall and Dr. Dreyfuss. Marge was played by an understudy last night, but Katie Finneran who is cast here won the Tony this year for featured actress.
My only criticism for this production is: It may be more effective in a smaller venue, due to the nature of the material - a lot of talking like a play, then breaking out for intimate song numbers. In fact, when the massive sets came in during the second half making the stage look less open (compared to the floating ones in the first half) -- it became a better show. Granted the dancing office workers filled the stage -- they really looked like they were there to fill it and not really contribute much to the story. Having said that however, Sean Hayes in particular manages to glue this thing together by shear force of will. I still highly recommend this if you are in New York City looking for some light-hearted entertainment on Broadway. Kristin is one of Broadway's biggest stars and she shouldn't be missed.
For last night's performance, the audience was treated to a laughing spell from Kristin Chenoweth on stage. It was so funny. In one scene, she put a cigarette in her mouth. I'm not so sure if it was part of the script, but she had the filter on the wrong end. However a few moments later Kristin started losing it because it looked like she had swallowed some tobacco at that moment. Her scene partner had to ad lib running to the side stage to get her some tissue so she could spit something out. The guy who played the waiter had to come in to bring her water. It really took some time for her to get it together! She would look at her scene partner and she dropped character. LOL. Thankfully this show was a comedy so it somehow worked itself through and not as painful as it could have been in a drama. And the audience last night was very supportive. We applauded her to help her get back into character.

Synopsis:
It's Manhattan. It's the '60s. And the city is back in full swing, in Broadway's first-ever revival of PROMISES PROMISES—starring Emmy® Award-winner Sean Hayes (Will and Grace) as Chuck Baxter, the enterprising associate on the way up, and Tony® and Emmy® Award-winner Kristin Chenoweth (Wicked) as Fran Kubelik, the cafeteria waitress whose romantic troubles have got her down. Don't miss this smart and sexy musical based on the Oscar®-winning Billy Wilder film, The Apartment. The creative team creates a perfect cocktail: the splashy score is by the Academy Award®-winning team of Burt Bacharach and Hal David, and includes such songs as “I'll Never Fall In Love Again” and the straight-up swinging title tune; the book takes turns tickling your funny bone and breaking your heart, courtesy of the legendary Neil Simon, and it's all topped off with a sparkling blend of direction and choreography by Tony® and Emmy® Award-winner Rob Ashford. PROMISES, PROMISES is an intoxicating evening of Broadway magic.
