Project Runway: Season 2
Watching the 2-hour season premiere of Project Runway on Bravo now. Is everybody excited?
---
Where to begin? Where have I been all this time? This show is awesome. I found it so interesting that we've gone from one runway, ANTM, to this one. This is now my new favorite show while Lost is filming and until American Idol comes back in January. Project Runway had wall to wall drama and entertainment, and is what every reality show should be (is that saying too much?)
For the first hour we get introduced to 16 designers, who before coming on, were given some plain fabric and $20 to design a dress that showed off their personality. The variety of the designers I think was suberb. There's something here for everybody, including geeks who love fashion: Diana Eng, whose inspiration for fashion is science and technology. She doesn't really care how something looks, just as long as it works scientifically. Get out -- that's casting brilliance right there. I'm so rooting for Diana. Her first dress had a "magnetic malfunction", but she survived the first elimination.
Also interesting is the uber-confident Santino Rice, who won the first challenge. I don't really like his cockiness too much, but his first design was just brilliant:

The guy I enjoyed the most was Nick Verreos. He's a reality tv star. I honestly feel like he's my friend on the show. His clips are all funny.

The second challenge was called: "The Clothes on Your Back". After the first day, the designers had a party in the evening. Little did they know that what they were wearing would be the fabric they would use the next day. Needless to say, favorite leather jackets were cut and all kinds of other dramas related to clothes' sentimental value ensued.
Chloe Dao, who won the challenge, is my current favorite. Simply because I love simple cuts with lots of elegance. (Nice! I can't believe I actually said that.) She had the least material to work with, but the result was amazing:

The highlight of the evening however belongs to poor Andrae Gonzalo who decides to have a nervous breakdown during the second elimination. A classic. Who knew that tearing up your favorite pair of jeans could do this to a man?
