Project Runway 7 - Episode 3: The Hi's and Low's of Fashion - Recap

Project-Runway-3.avif

The first group challenge of the season on Project Runway 7. Will we see some fireworks?

But first some opening quotes:

Ping Wu (while struggling with her contacts): "I can only see through one eye."
Random Designer: "Maybe that will help you sketch."

LOL. And then she forgot her shoes while they were heading out the apartment. Ping is cray-cray.

The designers visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and take inspiration from classic dresses by Christian Dior, Madame Gres, Cristobal Balenciaga and others.

The Challenge: Create a High End Signature Look with a budget of $500

The designers got paired up and Ping chose Jesse who was just dying. The two were constantly arguing with Jesse telling the camera: "I feel like I'm just trying to rein in the crazy." Hahaha.

Another interesting pair was Anthony and Seth Aaron -- which didn't turn out as bad as I thought in terms of fighting since Anthony handled their conflicts with a lot of humor. He jokingly told Seth Aaron "I need you to write it in blood" during one of their truces.

Jay Nicolas Sario's partner Maya hated on him a bit because he was slacking -- which was true, since he had immunity.

The other partnerships were kinda blah, and Jesus, the other weak designer with Ping and Anthony, looked safe for most of the episode.

In the beginning of Day 2, Tim Gunn came in and surprise, an additional challenge.

Challenge #2: Create a Look for Less derived from the look of another team with a budget of $50.

RESULTS:

Mila won the challenge with her coat design signature look, though I was kinda rooting for Jay Nicolas and Maya since Maya actually did a very good job taking the lead.

Sadly, our favorite cray-cray of the season Ping is auf'd! Noooooo!

During her tearful farewell to the camera I was telling my TV: It's the climb Ping! The climb!

Anyway, she will be missed.

Over at Models of the Runway:

Sophia - Jesus's model whom he called out as "difficult to work with" - is out.

Right now, my favorite is Emilio Sosa as far as design, and though I love rooting for Jay, I'm not really feeling his aesthetic.
