Project Runway 7 - Episode 1: Back to New York - Recap
Project Runway is back with Season 7 - still on Lifetime which is a bit unfortunate for me because Time Warner Cable does not carry Lifetime HD - but the show is back in New York where it belongs. Heidi Klum said recently that the next Project Runway will be in LA again - but we'll dwell over that next time. For now season seven!
As usual, it's hard to sort through the many designers they have in the beginning and it's all a blur to me. The only ones that standout are the 'crazies' that somehow make it on this show every single time.
Ping Wu. OMG, she's nuts. Usually, the designer with unusual design style and aesthetic goes early - and boy is Ping out there. She basically gave us another classic for this show when Tim Gunn approached her while she was wearing her runway dress herself -- she is her own dress form. (Video in the end).
Janeane Marie. Everyone gets nervous, but clearly she was cast because she could give the show a nervous breakdown any second. I'm going: Is she stable?
Anthony Williams. Drama queen. Drama queen. Drama queen.
The ones I like so far are: Emilio Sosa - loved his dress. And Jay Nicolas Sario because he's representing cute brown skinned Asian gay men everywhere.
For the first challenge, the designers were given some fabric to choose from in Central Park and they must make a look that 'represented them'.
Nicole Richie was guest judge. Michael Kors and Nina Garcia were back - hopefully for the rest of the season.
RESULTS:
Christiane King was eliminated.
Emilio Sosa won the challenge and get immunity.
Over at Models of the Runway, Christiane's model was also eliminated. But we did get a nice preview of what's to come on Project Runway at the end. Will a model reject one of the designers when he chooses her? That's going to be something.
