Producers Guild Reveals 2014 Documentary Nominees

The nominations for the Documentary Motion Picture award have been announced by the Producers Guild of America. While the award is occasionally a telling hint towards the direction the Oscar winds will blow, this isn't always the case, as two years ago, none of the documentary nominees for the PGA translated over to Oscar.
With that said, there is still considerable Oscar buzz on the five films that have been nominated. They are:
Far Out Isn't Enough: The Tomi Ungerer Story (Brad Bernstein's feature about the life and work of the eponymous children's author)
Life According to Sam (The story of a couple's fight for their son's life after he is diagnosed with a terminal illness, from Oscar-nominated documentarians Andrea Nix and Sean Fine)
A Place at the Table (The Jeff Bridges-starring documentary that focuses on the issue of hunger in America)
We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks (An in-depth study of Julian Assange and the WikiLeaks controversy)
Which Way is the Front Line From Here? The Life and Time of Tim Hetherington (Sebastian Junger's touching portrait of his tragically slain colleague and collaborator, photojournalist Tim Hetherington, with whom Junger previously won a documentary Oscar for the powerful war film, Restrepo).
Nominees in the PGA's other film categories will be revealed on January 2. The awards themselves will be presented on on January 19.
