Pretty Little Liars - Monsters in the End - Recap

It's going to be hard refraining from typing this entire thing with my CAPS LOCK on. That's how on the edge of my seat I was. Part of me really wishes I could figure out who A is but the rest of me is glad I don't know. I enjoy the mystery. Like Spencer's mother said, someone is going to a lot of trouble to make Spencer look guilty. Who did Spencer piss off THAT much? I'm still finding it so hard to believe that Spencer's Mariska Hargitay look alike of a mom would allow Ian to continue to stay at the house and terrify her daughter. I mean..what the hell? In another switch, Spencer's mom asks her to stay away from Toby for awhile until things settle down. She doesn't want the neighbors to get the wrong idea about her. Aww. I love them together :(.

Hanna and Aria are both having boy troubles this week. Hanna is busy moping over Caleb's betrayal and has no idea how sorry he is because she won't listen. She grills Caleb for answers on what Jenna wanted from him and why. He tells her she believed Hanna or her friends had a key that Alison left behind. A key to what? Well, we don't know yet. That's all Hanna is willing to listen to from him so Caleb goes to Mona to give Hanna a letter. Instead of delivering it, she reads it, rips it up and pours a slurpee on it. We can only see a soggy "I love you Hanna" on the bottom of the trash :(.

Aria freaks out when she accidentally on purpose snoops Fitzy's facebook and finds a picture of him with another girl. The other girl in question has quite a ring on her finger. Turns out Fitzy has been engaged before. I don't know why that makes Aria so mad but she compensates by taking a picture of them together wearing paper bags on their heads. That's not creepy at all. A cop would find that creepy. In fact, a cop DOES find it creepy. Garett has been following our girls all episode. He says he's trying to help but..dude's up to something. He sees Aria leave Ezra's apartment and asks to talk to him about one of his students. Uhoh. Is he busted?

To the good stuff. Spencer is sent to help out Ian and Melissa set up at the town's annual winter festival to try and make herself look good. While spending time with them, she catches Melissa and Ian in a lie about being at Hilton Head. Or it seems at least that Melissa was lying about being there to get an abortion. Was Ian really there with Alison? Why would Melissa want to cover that up? What are they hiding? Spencer decides its time to sneak off and meet Toby at the funhouse. She gets a text from Unknown claiming to be Toby already inside the funhouse.

SPENCER. YOU KNOW THAT'S NOT HIM WHY ARE YOU GOING INSIDE?

But alas. She does. This is the creepiest funhouse I've ever seen. Why are there demonic glow in the dark clowns everwhere? What kind of festival is this?! Spencer walks around looking for Toby and comes upon a threatening message on the wall. "Shut up, or I'll shut you up. -A" Someone then locks her inside a tiny room inside the funhouse. AHHH! That certainly looks like it would be Ian but it's so obvious that it can't be. Right? Spencer screams for her life inside and someone finally hears. The door is wrenched open and it's Ian holding a crowbar. But not to kill her, it's how he saved her. Spencer hugs her mom and leaves with her family. She finds Toby outside and despite her mother's wishes, runs into his arms. It's so sweet. Who has it out for Spencer?

Emily finds an old snowglobe that Alison gave her a long time ago. And inside it she finds a key. Is this the key Alison left behind? Why would she leave it for them? Did she know someone was going to hurt her? The key is to a storage unit and inside is a lunch box. Inside that lunch box is a flash drive. And on that flash drive are videos. This is such an effort to see them but someone really wanted to hide them. Who is paying the bill on that storage locker anyway? The videos show that someone has been spying on the girls for years. Who? Is it just a random perv or someone with a reason to spy? Is this why Alison was killed? Because she found out?
