Poll: The Most Shocking Elimination in American Idol History

One of the most shocking eliminations on American Idol happened last night, which for all intents and purposes has left this poor little fanboy stunned. I'm still in a loss for words, and I didn't even root for Michael Johns. So what do you think is the most shocking elimination ever?

I've included Clay Aiken because in Claymate mythology (LOL) his non-win is considered a "shocking elimination". Some of these eliminations are also "shocking moments" but that's for another poll. Also, on balance, Gina Glocksen was the most shocking in Season Six since she got eliminated before Haley and Sanjaya whom everyone had written off at the time. How sad Season Six -- this is all it could muster for this important barometer of Idol success.

My pick: Tamyra Gray in Season One. Because it is the one elimination among everything else that put American Idol firmly on the map. The show wouldn't be what it is today without that watershed moment -- expect the unexpected. There is always a shock elimination on Idol, always!
