Pink - Why She'll Never Do a Reality Show & Her "F You" Account
Pink says she'll never do a reality show and explains her "F You" account and how it has affected her musical career.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Pink explains the best piece of career advice she ever got, the "F You" account. Pink said that, "“When I first started, L.A. Reid said, ‘Make sure you put money into your F You account. That’s the account that, one day when people ask you to do things you don’t want to do, you say “F you.”?’ I make sure that my F You account is okay, so that you never have to make decisions based on money. I feel like that’s where people kill their careers.”
Sounds like pretty solid advice to me! Go L.A. Reid!
Ironically, thanks in part to L.A. Reid's excellent financial advice, one of the things Pink won't have to do is a reality t.v. show like The X Factor.
Pink goes on to explain that while she has been courted by the likes of The X Factor and American Idol, she's just not interested. She added that, "It’s not that I don’t want to do one, it’s just out of spite for everyone else doing one and it being so f-?-?-ing annoying. I believe that ours would be very entertaining, but no thank you. I’ve been asked to do American Idol and X Factor. I’m an Ed McMahon kind of girl. Star Search? I’m in, all day long. It felt more authentic, and the market wasn't over saturated with karaoke -contests. It’s just not for me.”
I would actually love to see Pink as a judge on one of these shows. I'm a big fan of her music and she seems like someone that would be really honest with her critique, but I must admit that her preference for Star Search makes me love her just a little bit more. I watched that show obsessively as a kid and it remains my favorite talent competition show of all time.
Unfortunately for me, my "F You" account is a bit more of an "F Me" account, so hey Idol, Call me....maybe?
