American Idol star Pia Toscano has landed her first feature film role. She is starring in Grace Unplugged -- "loosely based" on Pia's rise to fame.

From WENN:

Former AMERICAN IDOL contestant PIA TOSCANO has scored her first feature film gig, playing a role that was written specifically for her.

The 23 year old's exit from the show's 10th season shocked fans - because she was considered an early favorite.

But she refused to let the elimination ruin her aspirations of becoming a star, and Toscano has spent the past year recording her debut album, which is due out this year (12), and has even lined up her first leading role in a movie titled Grace Unplugged.

Toscano reveals, "I'm honored to be a part of this amazing film, and my character is a reflection of me, which makes this special for me."

The role of Alyssa was created with the aspiring star in mind, and it's loosely based on Toscano's journey to fame, according to Eonline.com.

The film centers around Grace, who is an aspiring musician, battling with the outside pressures of maintaining her Christian faith in Hollywood. No word yet on when the movie will be released, but production begins in Alabama this month (Aug12).

The announcement of Toscano's acting gig comes after rumors linking her to a guest star spot on Glee this season.
