Philip Seymour Hoffman Found Dead in His Apartment at 46

According to recent reports, Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has been found dead in his apartment in New York City.
The Wall Street Journal reports that a law-enforcement official has confirmed the news, telling the paper that Hoffman passed away in his home this afternoon (Feb. 2) at the age of 46 due to currently unknown causes.
The New York Police Department is currently investigating the cause of death. We will keep you updated as this story develops.

UPDATE: Police officials are reporting that heroin was located in Hoffman's apartment along with a needle which was still in his arm at the time of his death.
He was found on the bathroom floor by a screenwriter who called 911.
Hoffman's family released the following statement: "We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Phil and appreciate the outpouring of love and support we have received from everyone. This is a tragic and sudden loss and we ask that you respect our privacy during this time of grieving. Please keep Phil in your thoughts and prayers."
