Person of Interest – Season 2 Episode 11 – Recap – 2-Pi-R
The eleventh episode of Person of Interest Season 2 featured one of my favorite actors in Luke Kleintank. He was the P.O.I. in this episode, and he is best known for his role as Intern Finn on Bones.
Find out why this “boy genius” is intentionally averaging a “C-grade” in all of his classes.
Check out the recap for Season 2 Episode 11 – “2-Pi-R”:
Since Reese (Jim Caviezel) and the other three men in suits are all currently locked up in prison, Finch (Michael Emerson), Agent Fusco (Kevin Chapman), and Agent Carter (Taraji P. Henson) took charge in Episode 11. Agent Donnelly asked for fingerprint and DNA samples of all the four men in suits. (These four men were taken into custody in the previous episode). Donnelly still has no idea that Reese is the infamous “Man in the Suit.” Meanwhile, in secret, Carter makes sure to wipe all of Reese’s fingerprints out of the federal records… and she even switches Reese’s DNA with the DNA of a man she met at a bar. Donnelly believes that there is no way that none of these four men could be the “Man in the Suit,” so he asks Carter to interrogate each man one-by-one. (The interrogations will take place in the next episode).

This week’s person of interest is an 11th grade high school student named Caleb Phipps (Luke Kleintank). His brother Ryan passed away on the train tracks when he was Caleb’s age, and Caleb blames himself for his brother’s death. Caleb is actually a very intelligent coder… a genius even. He can code just about anything, but purposefully flunks his exams at school. (He holds a 2.6 GPA average). Since he doesn’t own a computer at home, he uses the computers at school. One of Caleb’s teachers hacked into Caleb’s computer after class because he knew that Caleb’s code would make him very wealthy. Caleb’s project is called “17-6-21.” Finch went undercover at this high school as a substitute Math teacher named “Mr. Swift,” and taught Caleb’s class the significance of Pi.
This week's person of interest: Caleb Phipps
Caleb blames himself for Ryan’s death because they were both drunk the day Ryan died. While they were waiting at the train station to get home, Ryan fell onto the tracks and unfortunately got run over by a train. Even though it was an accident, Caleb still blames himself for it because he witnessed his brother dying.
Caleb skipped out on his appointments, and fled to the train station. He was thinking about committing suicide, but Finch got there just in time to prevent him from doing so. It turns out 17-6-21 stands for 17 years, 6 months, and 21 days. (This is how old Ryan was when he died). Caleb wanted to commit suicide on this day because he was also 17 years, 6 months, and 21 days old. Agent Fusco also met up with Finch and Caleb at the train station.
I thought this episode was too calm, if you know what I mean. Since Reese is currently locked up in prison, there wasn’t any action/ass-kicking in this episode. All I could think about during this episode was that Caleb (Luke Kleintank) was using a different accent in this episode. He used a New York accent in this episode because this episode took place in Brooklyn, NY. In Bones, however, he uses a twangy Southern accent. Luke also looks younger with short hair, compared to his longer hair in Bones.
I also thought Finch, Carter, and Fusco did a great job helping this week’s POI without Reese being present.
I hope Reese gets out of prison soon! The show isn’t the same without the infamous “Man in the Suit” kicking some major butt.
The next episode airs 01/10 at 9pm ET on CBS.
