Person of Interest - Recap - Did That Really Happen??

Oh. My. God. A character does not make it out alive.

Read on for our recap of season 3 episode 9 of Person of Interest: "The Crossing". MAJOR and I mean MAJOR spoilers ahead:

This episode of Person of Interest was one of the best. Well written and full of on-the-edge-of-your-seat suspense. And for good measure, they threw in a few WTF!! moments as well. Bravo acting all around from Jim Caviezel, Taraji P. Henson and Kevin Chapman.

The battle with HR is reaching a dangerous close as the evil organization has eyes all around the city. Every criminal in New York is now looking for the gorgeous man in the suit. And the Machine knows it. John's number has come up. How is it not coming up like, every week though? He's always involved with violent crimes. Whatever.

After losing contact with Finch, John is forced to hide out in the morgue with Carter and Alonzo. While bracing themselves for what could be the end, John and Carter get closer when revealing their war scars to each other. Joss details that her closest encounter with death was during the birth of her son. John's closest encounter was when he tried to kill himself. "What stopped you?" Carter asks. "You." That was the day that John had stolen Jack's beard from LOST and was arrested and taken to Carter.

Then they kiss. WHAT. Are the writers really going there?? Shippers are going to be very happy.

Meanwhile, Fusco is in a bad situation. Simmons has nabbed him and is torturing him for info on Carter's box of evidence. They punch him everywhere they can reach and then they start to break his fingers. Then they go after his son and hold him at gunpoint and make Lionel listen as they shoot him.

AHH! Fake out. That sound was Shaw shooting the gunman. Then Lionel, the badass that he is, breaks his own thumb to get out of the handcuffs and kills the bad guy. Man. That face is sooo gonna be a gif.

Fusco is safe. Fusco is not the character who dies.

With John's number up, Shaw thinks Finch should just bite the bullet and ask Root for help. Finch is increasingly useless and stubborn tonight and I'm actually getting a bit mad at him. Maybe it's because I know how this ends.

After making their way out of the morgue, John is arrested by some "good cops" and Carter gets him out of jail the next day. Alonzo is now in custody and unfortunately, Simmons is on the loose.

I hate him. He's waiting for the two of them and he shoots both Carter and John. John cradles Carter in his arms while she begs him with her last breaths to keep an eye on her son.

Joss Carter dies. John weeps while Finch, still useless, is standing in the street for what seems like 45 minutes.

WHAT THE HELL. DID THAT REALLY HAPPEN? HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO COMPREHEND THIS. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I hate Simmons. If there is any justice in the POI universe, a dog will feast on his balls and John will light whatever is left of them on fire.
