Person of Interest - Recap - Freaks, Geeks, and Stubble

John is ready to hide out on an extended vacation but the Machine has other plans.

Read on for our recap of season 3 episode 13 of Person of Interest: "4C".

When John Reese (Jim Caviezel) ends up on a new plane, he's more than a little surprised when the Machine sends him the number of someone else on board (guest star Samm Levine). I'm not surprised at all how much I'm loving the black shirt and all the stubble. Can we keep that?

John is furious at Finch (Michael Emerson) for manipulating his plans but heclaims had nothing to do with it. The Machine is predicting a "mass casualty event" and Finch is worried that this new number may be "relevant". John may not want to accept his new mission but it's looking more and more likely that he has no choice.

It becomes more and more obvious that more than one person on board the flight wants to kill this guy. He claims to be a critical witness in the trial of an online black market drug bazaar. Whatever he's been up to has Finch so worried that he sends Shaw (Sarah Shahi) to meet with her former colleagues at the ISA. This includes Hersh. Guess he didn't blow up in that previous episode. Unfortunately.

It turns out that Owen, our new number, not only built the whole online marketplace, he's the big cheese behind the whole thing. That makes him a very wanted man. John is not impressed with this guy's vision of making drug trafficking safer. "You computer guys don't take responsibility when you build something and lose control." Sounds like he's talking to a certain someone else.

After getting in a very physical fight with a couple who also attempt to kill him, Reese is stabbed with a fork. Ouch. In case you're wondering how no one on board is noticing any of this, John is keeping them all calm with a mixture of whiskey, sleeping pills, and charm.

One last guy attempts to kill our mystery man Owen by taking the plane down all together. Through what I can only assume is some sort of wizardry, Harold is able to take control of the plane and land it from his desk.

By the end of the episode, John decides that he needs a new suit because it's time to get back to work. Yay for Rinch! But does this mean he's going to shave?

Bonus points for these quotes:

"That salt and pepper thing is like catnip to soccer moms."

"Who the hell are you?"
"A concerned frequent flyer."
