People's Choice Awards 2015 - Full Winners List
The winners are in for the People's Choice Awards 2015, after a ceremony last night that saw some of the biggest stars in Hollywood earning top honors.
The list included some surprises, such as Maleficent taking Favorite Movie over blockbusters such as Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Also, the PCAs delivered the first major win for Gone Girl this awards season, as the thriller took home Favorite Thriller Movie. However, not every outcome was surprising. For example, the winners for Favorite Movie Actor and Actress are two of the most popular celebrities in the world: Robert Downey Jr. and Jennifer Lawrence. I'd actually love to see the vote totals, because I get the feeling no one else even came close to touching either of those two, as evidenced by Lawrence's second victory of the night as Favorite Action Movie Actress and Downey's later win as Favorite Dramatic Movie Actor. On the subject of RDJ, his fellow Avenger, Chris Evans, took home honors as Favorite Action Movie Actor. This is great for Evans, since I imagine this category is going to be stuffed with his fellow Avengers next year, making for a really tight race. For his part, Evans seemed utterly thrilled with his win, in endearing fashion.
Meanwhile, the TV awards also saw some encouraging results for The CW. Kristin Kreuk won a second consecutive People's Choice Award for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actress for Beauty and the Beast, which also won Favorite Network Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show (meaning the show has now won a PCA for each year it's been on the air). Also, Supernatural's Misha Collins won the award for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actor, and The Vampire Diaries's Nina Dobrev & Ian Somerhalder as Favorite TV Duo. As an added bonus, Golden Globe nominee Jane the Virgin won as Favorite New TV Comedy, while The Flash earned Favorite New TV Drama.
As for music, the awards were fairly evenly spread out among the year's most popular artists, although I guess you could ultimately call it The Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran Show. Swift won for Favorite Pop Artist, Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Song for "Shake It Off," while Sheeran won Favorite Male Artist and Favorite Album for X. Pharrell Williams was named Favorite R&B Artist, while Maroon 5 was named Favorite Group, making it a fairly big night for The Voice, which took home Favorite Competition TV Show.
