Paulina Rubio, Juanes to Guest Star on The CW's 'Jane the Virgin'

Mexican pop star Paulina Rubio and Colombian rock musician Juanes will guest star on The CW's upcoming Latino-centric comedy, Jane the Virgin.

The series, an English-language adaptation of the Venezuelan telenovela Juana La Virgen, will star Gina Rodriguez as a dedicated student whose life is turned upside down when she's accidentally inseminated by an incompetent OB/GYN.

Rubio, who's probably best known to American audiences from her stint judging The X Factor USA (although probably not, because the ratings for that season were hot garbage), will star in the series as herself. While this will be her English-language debut as an actress, the role isn't exactly a huge stretch for her. In the episode, we learn that Rubio, who is the favorite pop star of Jane's mother Xiomara (Andrea Navedo), shares a surprising connection to Jane's family.

“When I wrote the pilot, I had in the back of my mind, the hope that one day we’d have Paulina Rubio on,” said series creator Jennie Snyder Urman. “It’s a great moment for our character, and for our show. I couldn’t be more thrilled. Just like Xo, I’m a huge fan!”

Meanwhile, Juanes has also been confirmed for a role on the show, playing the part of a "smooth-talking music producer." It's not certain whether or not he'll appear in the same episode as Rubio, but the Grammy winner will be in the same untested waters as Rubio, as this is his acting debut in America as well. In fact, it appears to be his acting debut, period. We'll find out if Juanes can bring the goods when his episode airs.

Jane the Virgin premieres on The CW next Monday, Oct. 13 at 9:00 PM ET.
