Paul Anka Says He Shares Copyright to "This Is It" by Michael Jackson

As we posted earlier today, Michael Jackson's "This Is It" is the same song as Safire's "I Never Heard". It turns out that Paul Anka was a co-writer of the song. The New York Times reports that Paul Anka was not contacted about the use of the song, and also not given proper writing credit which now only credits Michael Jackson as the sole songwriter.

"They have a major, major problem on their hands," he said. "They will be sued if they don't correct it."

Apparently, this song has a history dating back to 1983 when it was originally recorded by Michael Jackson and Paul Anka as a duet for Mr. Anka's album "Walk the Fine Line."

Forehead slap.

Update: Sony gives Paul Anka proper credit (Idolator)
