'Patriot' Child Actress Skye McCole Bartusiak Dead at 21

Actress Skye McCole Bartusiak, perhaps best known as Mel Gibson's youngest daughter in The Patriot, has passed away at 21.

Which just makes The Patriot even more depressing than it already was.

According to reports, the actress died in her sleep in her Texas home, with Variety reporting that her cause of death is currently unknown.

The child actress appeared in several films, including 1999's The Cider House Rules and Don't Say a Word opposite Michael Douglas.

She was also had roles in television shows such as 24, Lost and House.

Before her death, Bartusiak was producing and starring in several short films.
