Patrick Wilson, Two Others Leave Marvel's 'Ant-Man'

The abrupt departure of director Edgar Wright left Marvel's Ant-Man in the lurch.

Although lead stars Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas were able to stick around, the delay in production that resulted from Wright's exit has left co-stars Patrick Wilson, Matt Gerard, and Kevin Weisman with no choice but to leave the long-awaited action movie.

All three men were attached to Wright's version of the film. But after Wright left due to creative differences, the entire project seemed up in the air.The film is back on track with director Peyton Reed (Bring It On) picking up the ball, telling the tale of con man Scott Lang (Rudd), who "has the ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength." Lang inevitably must help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), "protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats."

No word on which actors will be brought in to replace Wilson, Weisman, and Gerard. However, despite the delay, Ant-Man is still scheduled for its original release date on July 17, 2015. Say what you will about the loss of Wright -- which is a MASSIVE blow, given his signature stylistic flair -- but I'm still kind of excited about this movie.
