Patrick Lovato, father of Demi, passes away

Patrick Lovato, the father of The X Factor judge/pop star Demi Lovato, has passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Demi herself has yet to address the news publicly, but messages of solidarity and support have come pouring in from Twitter, as fans offer their condolences to Demi and her sister, Dallas. Fans of the singer might recall the troubled relationship Demi had with her biological father, as evidenced by songs such as “For the Love of a Daughter,” off of the album “Unbroken,” which detailed her hardships in growing up without him in her life.

Demi has spent much of the last week conducting auditions for season three of The X Factor in New York. It is unknown how this will impact filming of the auditions in the coming weeks, but we'll be sure to follow up once we know for sure.
